Escape routes that stay lit.
BS 5266-1 sets out how emergency escape lighting must be provided, tested and recorded. The routine is simple but unforgiving: a brief function test every month, and a full rated-duration test - usually three hours - every year, all logged.
We handle the annual duration testing and certification, replace failed fittings and batteries, and set your team up with a clear logbook and guidance for the monthly flick tests. For new fit-outs and refurbishments we design and install complete schemes, from exit signage to open-area luminaires.
- Annual full-duration (3-hour) testing to BS 5266-1
- Design & installation of new emergency lighting schemes
- Replacement fittings, batteries & exit signage
- Test logbook supplied & completed on every visit
- Monthly function-test guidance for your own team
- Combined visits with extinguisher or alarm servicing
Emergency lighting is easily combined with your extinguisher or alarm contract - one visit, one invoice, one renewal date.

Emergency lighting questions.
Is emergency lighting a legal requirement?
Yes, for virtually all non-domestic premises. The Fire Safety Order requires emergency routes and exits to have illumination that works on power failure, and BS 5266-1 is the recognised route to compliance.
Can our own staff do the monthly tests?
Yes - the monthly function test is deliberately simple and most customers handle it in-house with a test key. We supply the logbook, show your team the routine, and cover the annual full-duration test ourselves.
What happens if fittings fail the duration test?
Most failures are simply tired batteries. We'll list every failed fitting in the test report with a fixed price to put it right - no work goes ahead without your approval.

Tell us roughly how many fittings and floors you have - we'll price the annual test and any remedials, usually the same day.
